Occult hybrids in The Sims 4

Two occult types in one Sim. The game doesn’t support it — but some of it works. Nothing goes on this page until we’ve tested it ourselves, with a date and a game version attached.
Read this firstHybrids are not officially supported by EA. Everything here has been tested, but a game update can change the behaviour without warning.

Always copy your save first — and experiment in the copy, not in the household you care about.

What works together?

Click a square to see what we found. Grey squares are the ones we haven’t got to yet — we don’t write anything until we’ve tried it.

PART 2

Method: spellcaster + vampire

This is the order we tested. Steps 1 and 2 aren’t optional — they’re the difference between an experiment and a broken save.
01Save to a new slotUse Save As, not Save. That gives you a version to return to from inside the game.
02Copy your saves folderPut a copy somewhere else on the machine. It takes ten seconds and saves everything if this goes wrong.
03Turn cheats onType the line into the console and press Enter.
04Start as a spellcaster — and finish the spellcaster firstWork through the whole spellcaster perk tree before you go on. One type at a time is far easier.
05Add vampire status in Live ModeThe Sim now has both types, but the game still shows the spellcaster panel.
06Switch to the vampire panelRemove the spellcaster trait temporarily. The spellcaster perks don’t disappear — they’re just not visible while the vampire panel is shown.
07Travel to another lot, or reload the householdThat makes the game redraw the interface. If the switch doesn’t happen by itself, this is usually where it resolves.
08Develop the vampire normallyVampire rank and the powers you want are earned exactly as on an ordinary vampire.
09Switch back to the spellcaster panelThe vampire powers are normally kept.
The resultA Sim who can cast spells, run at vampire speed and turn into a bat — while the spellcaster panel is shown.
PART 3

Safe wardrobe editing

A finished hybrid doesn’t survive being opened in Create a Sim. To change clothes, hair or make-up, do it inside the game instead.
  • Use the mirror or the dresser to change appearance. It doesn’t touch the Sim’s occult status.
  • Avoid cas.fulleditmode on a finished hybrid. It’s the most common way to lose one of the two halves.
  • Save the Sim to the library and take a copy of the whole save file once the hybrid is done. Then it can be rebuilt if an update breaks it.
PART 4

When something goes wrong

Travel to another lot or reload the household. The game only redraws the interface once the Sim is loaded again.

That’s normal. The game can only show one occult interface at a time — it doesn’t mean the other one is gone.

First check whether you’ve been in Create a Sim since last time. If so, they’ve most likely been reset, and you’ll need your save copy.

Quit without saving and open your most recent copy. Never save over the file you came from.

Send us the game version and the combination. We’ll re-check and update the table — that’s how this page stays alive.

How we test

Here’s why there are so many grey squares in the table above: we only write something down once we’ve tried it ourselves. Read the full method.

One combination, one save

Every test runs in its own copy, so the result isn’t coloured by anything else.

Five fixed checks

Same questions every time: do both perk trees survive, can the interface be switched, does it survive a reload, ageing, and a game update.

A date and a version on everything

No claim without a game version. More than two patches old, and we flag it for re-checking.
